Job Description – Cabin Supervisor

Job Purpose

The Cabin Supervisor is a critical position as the airline’s ambassador on board, being the front-line representative of Air Arabia. The key responsibility of the job is to provide an outstanding and safe customer experience for all passengers across the entire flight cycle. The Cabin Supervisor is tasked with supervising the general behavior, performance, and preparedness of the Cabin Crew on shift, to maintain compliance with all GACA mandated safety, security, and service regulations, as well as Air Arabia’s internal rules and procedures.

Aside from upholding superior service standards, the Cabin Supervisor also sees to it that the Cabin Crew’s wellbeing, grooming, preparedness, and professional conduct are at par with the company’s expectations. This position plays a significant role in guiding, mentoring, and supervising Cabin Crew to have a constructive working environment, enhance teamwork, and provide a hassle-free passenger experience that reflects positively on Air Arabia.

Key Result Responsibilities

  • General Conduct
  • lGuarantees that all Cabin Crew working on the flight cycle are fully compliant with GACA regulations and Air Arabia’s standard operating procedures (SOPs). This encompasses monitoring licensing, documentation, grooming, performance, and physical fitness of every crew member.
  • lWorks closely with the Cabin Crew Duty Supervisor, Captain, and the Dispatch team to get and share accurate and timely flight information so that all members of the Cabin Crew are properly briefed and ready for boarding.
  • lPerforms pre-flight briefings for the rotating Cabin Crew. Briefing entails major information such as the role and duty of the crew, flight duration, safety/security inspections, customer service standards, and special instructions or passenger requirements.
  • lServes as a leader and coach by leading Cabin Crew through normal and non-normal operational situations, promoting compliance with procedures, collaboration, and problem-solving as necessary.
  • lMaintains that junior Cabin Crew members are taken care of, particularly on international layovers, and serves as their point of contact for all operational, personal, or conduct issues during the journey.
  • Upholds decorum and discipline onboard, reporting any dishevelment or breaches of protocol to the Captain or the relevant supervisor as necessary.

Safety Procedures

Monitors all Cabin Crew activity on the ground and in-flight to ensure that it is executed according to the airline’s safety and security rules and procedures.

Performs and oversees all required safety, security, weight, fuel, and emergency equipment checks. Responsible for giving the ‘cabin secure’ or ‘cabin not secure’ status reports to the Captain at scheduled intervals.

Is responsible for passenger safety briefings and ensures that all safety procedures and demonstrations done by the Cabin Crew are in compliance with regulatory requirements and recognized by passengers.

Acts instantly and firmly in the event of safety or security anomalies. Provides proper communication with the flight deck and coordinates with Cabin Crew to address such incidents in accordance with the SOPs.

Oversees and supports the delivery of first aid and medical care onboard when needed, ensuring incidents are reported and communicated according to company policy.

Ensures incidents, malfunctions, or irregularities are recorded and reported, ensuring ongoing improvement in flight safety procedures.

lEnsures the onboard customer service experience is led by having all Cabin Crew provide efficient, courteous, and effective service to passengers. Ensures passenger satisfaction while ensuring operational efficiency.

lHandles special requests from passengers and ensures that customer complaints or concerns are dealt with in a professional and sympathetic manner, escalating as necessary to the Captain or ground staff.

lLeads Cabin Crew in dealing with difficult passengers or emotional situations, ensuring Air Arabia’s values of respect, patience, and professionalism are maintained at all times.

lEnsures boarding formalities and interactions are conducted efficiently and with regard to passenger comfort and safety.

lRemains calm and composed during tense situations, being a good role model for the crew during stressful or emergency conditions, like flight delays, medical emergencies, or unruly passenger disturbances.

Crosschecking and Reports

Oversees the pre-flight inspection procedure for emergency equipment, food supplies, and all onboard materials. Verifies inventory stock is adequate, equipment is in working order, and all cabin items are in position for departure.

lInspects and notes deficiencies found in checks or reported by Cabin Crew and remedies them. Invokes the assistance of the Captain, engineering, or ground operations to address such problems.

lSecures the aircraft cabin to be cleaned and in good condition prior to every flight. Coordinates with ground services at a transit point to schedule cleaning of the cabin, disposal of trash, and re-catering where needed.

lSubmits post-flight reports, crew evaluations, and incident reports, keeping a true and accurate record of the flight operations and crew-related issues.

lReports sales and performance of in-flight services, such as duty-free and catering, and makes recommendations for improvement or feedback to management based on passenger feedback and crew efficiency.


Qualifications (Academic, Training, and Languages)

At least a Higher Secondary Certificate or Diploma is necessary for this role. A travel and tourism diploma or an equivalent is an asset.

Must have an active Cabin Crew License issued by the respective aviation authority.

Certified training in First Aid, Aviation Safety, Emergency Procedures, and Firefighting is essential.

Must be “Fit to Fly,” having good overall health and no chronic or serious illness.

Strong English language proficiency (written and verbal) is necessary. Proficiency in Arabic and/or French is greatly preferred. Proficiency in other languages is a definite advantage.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other airline systems.

Work Experience

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as Cabin Crew with a reputable airline, with at least 1 year in a senior Cabin Crew or Cabin Supervisor position.

Experience in a low-cost carrier (LCC) environment is an advantage, as well as familiarity with the specific demands and operational practices of low-cost airline environments.

Deep familiarity with Civil Aviation Authority regulations, particularly cabin crew legality, flight and duty time restrictions, licensing, and operational requirements.

GACA standards experience is desired; IATA safety and security regulation knowledge is also desirable.

Exhibits leadership competency, with the ability to mentor, advise, and encourage a team while upholding discipline and professional standards.

Must be flexible to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to be available for overtime working or last-minute schedule adjustments.

Customer-oriented with the capacity to handle and resolve complaints skillfully and tactfully.

Proficient in emergency response, problem-solving, and quick decision-making under pressure.

Sustains a professional image with a friendly, relaxed, and team-friendly personality.
