As a part of our strategic expansion in the African continent, we are currently seeking a top-notch Director of Operations to be part of our leadership team in Angola. The position is for a senior executive who has experience working in the hospitality sector and is able to work effectively in dynamic, multicultural settings and is willing to undertake a critical challenge in an essential growth market.
Role Summary
The Operations Director will have a pivotal leadership function in ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel’s departments. This person will be accountable for group-wide policy implementation, departmental leader management, upholding high standards of service, and contributing to the profitability and efficiency of the hotel as a whole.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be the second-in-command and serve as the GM’s representative when necessary. You will be responsible for leading a multicultural team spread across various departments such as front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, maintenance, and guest services.
This is a dream position for an experienced senior hotel operations executive who has a minimum of 10 years of experience, 3+ years of experience in a management capacity, and a proven record of delivering operational success and financial performance.

Operational Leadership & Departmental Oversight
Directly supervise the heads of operational departments such as F&B, Rooms, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Guest Services.
Ensure corporate standards, operating procedures, and service quality standards are aligned in all departments.
Conduct weekly operational meetings to evaluate performance, assign priorities, and enforce accountability within departments.
Serve as General Manager in their absence to ensure that hotel operations are not disrupted and leadership is present.
Financial Management
Review the monthly P&L reports in depth, highlighting cost-saving measures, revenue increase programs, and efficiency enhancements.
Collaborate with department managers to maintain within-budget, optimize resource use, and meet or exceed financial objectives.
Establish and deploy programs to optimize profitability without sacrificing service quality.
Guest Experience & Service Excellence
Track guest feedback, satisfaction ratings, and service audits; take corrective action as necessary.
Adopt a culture of guest-focused service, making sure the staff always anticipates and surpasses guest expectations.
Partner with marketing and F&B departments to create upselling initiatives and in-house promotion activities.
People Management & Talent Development
Direct recruitment, induction, and training of operating staff and managers.
Encourage employee motivation and retention through continuous development plans and career pathing.
Ensure that performance management systems are established and leveraged to their best advantage, including timely evaluations and coaching.
Create succession plans and key staff for promotion and internal mobility.
Compliance & Standards
Ensure complete compliance with company policies, health and safety directives, and all the local government laws in Angola.
Enforce and track brand standards, SOPs, and audit requirements as per the group head office.
Promote continuous improvement by seeking out process gaps and recommending implementable solutions.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a strategic, hands-on, and resilient leader with a strong hotel operations background and experience in emerging markets.
Qualifications & Experience-International Best Jobs 2025
Degree in Hotel Management, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum 10 years of progressive hospitality experience.
At least 3 years in a senior operations or leadership role (e.g., Operations Manager, Hotel Manager, or Director of Operations).
Prior expat experience is highly desirable – preferably in Africa or other frontier markets.
Experience of strong P&L management and knowledge of hotel KPIs.
Languages
Portuguese – ability to communicate with and manage local staff, also to negotiate with partners.
English – corporate communication and international guests require this level of proficiency.
