The HLTA will play a key part in supporting teachers, students, and the wider school community. Under the guidance of a qualified teacher, the successful applicant will contribute to effective planning, delivery, and evaluation of learning programs to enhance student independence and ensure access to the curriculum for all learners in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
The HLTA will be involved in the planning, preparation, and assessment process and may also be required to cover classes in the teacher’s absence. Key Responsibilities-Dubai Higher Education Jobs 2025
- Working with School Staff
Work collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, and support staff to achieve the school’s overall vision, mission, and strategic goals.
Contribute to the implementation of the School Improvement Plan and self-evaluation framework.
Ensure that all relevant health and safety regulations are adhered to, providing students and staff with a safe and compliant working environment.
Follow the School’s Performance Management Policy by establishing and accomplishing annual objectives consistent with institutional priorities.
Engage in continuous professional development, particularly in areas related to child protection, safeguarding, inclusion, and teaching methodologies.
Uphold the professional standards of the school at all times: including, but not limited to, following the staff dress code, wearing the provided photo identification/lanyard, and adhering to the Acceptable Use Policy related to technology.
Attend and participate in staff briefings, team meetings, and professional development workshops.
Observe proper sign-in and sign-out procedures when entering or leaving the premises during working hours.
- Supporting Students
Be fully informed about the AEN/SEN requirements of the individual students assigned to them and adapt teaching approaches accordingly.
Provide access to learning by adapting materials, resources, and instructional techniques to individual needs.
Establish high-quality, positive, and predictable relationships with students grounded in respect, empathy, and encouragement.
Support students to reinforce classroom learning, encourage understanding, retention, and application of new knowledge.
Encourage and model independent learning, helping students to take ownership of their academic progress.
Support students who present physical, emotional, or behavioral difficulties to ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being.
Offer guidance in developing study skills, organization, and self-management.
Encourage students to be attentive during the lesson or activity.
Encourage confidence, self-esteem, and a positive attitude toward learning by giving constructive feedback and praise.
Keep the parents or guardians informed about student progress at school and areas that need improvement, as assigned by a teacher or school administrator.
- Working with Teachers
Attend formal and informal planning meetings with teachers to develop lesson objectives, differentiated strategies, and individualized learning plans.
Prepare teaching materials, learning aids, and classroom resources according to the needs of the students.
Support teachers in the delivery of lessons, reinforcing key concepts through work with small groups or one-on-one sessions.
Prepare students in advance of lessons or activities to instill confidence and assure readiness for participation.
Contribute to the implementation of differentiated instruction, adapting content and methods for different levels of ability.
Assist the teacher in managing practical activities, group work, and individual study sessions.
Assist in maintaining records of students’ progress, including achievements, areas for development, and behavioral observations.
Provide feedback to teachers about students’ performance, engagement, and emerging learning needs to inform planning.
Desired Candidate Profile-Dubai Higher Education Jobs 2025
Minimum Qualifications
A two-year diploma or degree in either Education or Special Needs Education.
Alternatively, applicants with a high school diploma, together with a certified program in Special Needs Education, will also be considered.
Minimum Experience
At least 2 years of experience in a similar educational support role, preferably within an international or inclusive school environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
Strong command of spoken and written English.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
A solution-focused mindset with a proactive, positive attitude toward challenges.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
Empathy, patience, and a deep commitment to student welfare and success.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail in record keeping and classroom preparation.
Proficiency in using educational technology tools to support teaching and learning.
A clean, enhanced police or background check (Disclosure and Barring Service or equivalent).
