As demand increases for intelligent cities, sustainable urban mobility, and connectivity between regions, this position is one part of a strategic drive to make world-class transport systems central to success enablers.
Purpose of the Role
In this role of Transportation Director, you will be responsible for end-to-end transportation and distribution planning of a mega real estate or infrastructure development project. This involves strategic planning, operational execution, fleet management, and vendor coordination — all while maintaining compliance with HSE standards, KPIs, and organizational goals.
Your task is to construct a scalable, effective, and responsive transport and logistics ecosystem critical to the successful operation of the entire mega project.

Key Duties
- Strategic Planning & Leadership
Create the Transport & Distribution Strategy from scratch — including smart technology, regional mobility patterns, sustainability guidelines, and capacity planning.
Convert long-term organizational objectives into tactical transport programs that help fit into overarching master plans and timelines.
Follow the wider transport market and regulatory environment to keep strategies looking forward and robust.
This requires a visionary leader but one who is also rooted in the realities of operations, with an understanding of both micro-logistics (fleet ops) and macro-logistics (intermodal planning, demand modeling).
- Implementation Operations
Direct the implementation of the Transport Strategy, such as route planning, load optimization, dispatch systems, and personnel deployment.
Manage day-to-day operations to ensure SLA compliance, delivery schedules, and cost effectiveness.
Incorporate smart mobility and digital tracking platforms for enhanced visibility and operational management.
One of the most significant KPIs here is “operational excellence,” balancing speed, cost, compliance, and safety.
- Vendor & Outsourcing Management
Establish the Scope of Work (SOW), Service Level Agreements (SLA), and Request for Proposal (RFP) for outsourced transportation suppliers.
Negotiate and lead the evaluation, selection, and monitoring of third-party logistics partners.
Develop long-term vendor relationships to ensure flexibility, performance, and best pricing.
The job entails contract negotiation and senior-level relationship management — best suited to prospects with good procurement/logistics crossover experience.
- Performance, KPIs & Reporting
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for delivery time, cost, vehicle utilization, driver performance, and regulatory compliance.
Regularly report daily, weekly, and monthly to monitor performance, foresee issues, and guide management decisions.
Enact continuous improvement programs based on data analytics and operation feedback.
You need to be able to convert data into operational intelligence in order to spearhead efficiency.
- Fleet & Systems Management
Handle complete fleet life cycle: acquisition, deployment, utilization, and upkeep.
Implement vehicle tracking, GPS systems, fuel monitoring, and route optimization software.
Maintain compliance with safety laws, licensing, and environmental regulations.
Your responsibility is to maintain high vehicle uptime, safety, and low loss through proactive fleet management.
- Quality, HSE & Risk Management
Enforce rigorous compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) procedures on all transport operations.
Conduct regular safety drills, audits, and inspections.
Set up crisis management and risk prevention plans for transport breakdown or accidents.
Transport and distribution can’t have failures — risk awareness is an essential leadership characteristic here.
- Team Leadership & Capability Building
Lead a large team of transport professionals, drivers, coordinators, and support staff.
Perform frequent performance appraisals, team training, and succession planning.
Encourage cross-functional working between transport, procurement, warehousing, and executive management.
Inspiring, leading, and retaining people will be essential in this challenging operating context.
