Role Summary

As Area Sales Manager, you will have full commercial ownership of the pharmaceutical portfolio for the Western Region of Saudi Arabia. This will involve maintaining and mentoring a team of first-line managers and Key Account Managers (KAMs), managing performance through private and government channels, and creating revenue, margin, and market share growth.

You will be responsible for implementing national sales strategy in the region as well as helping to create new tactics from local market information. This is a very visible job, involving a blend of strategic direction, people management, and operational discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sales Strategy & Execution

Convert national sales strategies into region-based approaches tailored to revenue goals and business objectives.

Own the Western Region’s P&L and maintain financial objectives being met or surpassed consistently.

Keep track of market trends and competitor movement to realign tactics and remain ahead in a dynamic market.

  1. Team Leadership & Talent Development

Manage a group of first-line sales managers and KAMs, guiding them to high performance and developing their careers.

Develop a high-performance culture, emphasizing accountability, customer interaction, and executional excellence.

Offer continuous feedback, performance reviews, and guidance to create a deep sales bench.

  1. Portfolio Management

Manage a broad pharmaceutical portfolio, spanning several therapeutic areas — from general medicine to specialty products.

Lead sales in both generic and branded portfolios, ensuring best-in-class pricing, access, and positioning.

Collaborate closely with product managers and medical affairs to ensure consistency of commercial and scientific messaging.

  1. Stakeholder Engagement

Develop and maintain strong customer relationships with strategic clients across the private and public sectors, including hospitals, government agencies, and purchasing authorities.

Ensure all regulatory and ethical requirements are met in stakeholder engagement.

  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with marketing, regulatory affairs, supply chain, and medical groups for end-to-end business planning and smooth execution.

Share field insights and information that influence national-level commercial decision-making.

  1. Territory Optimization & Operational Excellence

Regularly evaluate territory alignment, coverage models, and resource allocation for optimal impact.

Use salesforce analytics tools and CRM systems for monitoring performance, flagging gaps, and taking corrective steps

Ideal Candidate Profile


We require an experienced commercial leader with extensive knowledge of pharma sales management within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. You should be able to manage strategy and execution with ease, and able to create strong teams and lead by example.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s in Pharmacy, Medicine, Life Sciences, or Business Administration.

Master’s or MBA is desirable, particularly for those with wider business responsibilities.

Experience:

8–12+ years of overall experience in the pharma industry with a minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a second-line management function (e.g., Regional Sales Manager, National Sales Manager).

Experience in managing first-line managers and large KAM teams.

Strong private and public sector pharmaceutical sales record.

Experience with government tenders, MOH/Health Authority procedures, and public procurement processes.

Commercial familiarity with generic and branded pharma products is a must.

Strong commercial acumen with hands-on P&L responsibility experience.

Data-driven decision making and capacity to interpret market analysis to inform performance.

Strong leadership and team building skills.

High emotional intelligence and capacity to work in a cross-cultural and dynamic market like Saudi Arabia.

English is fluent; Arabic proficiency is highly preferred.

Mobility:

Will to move to Jeddah or be based in the Western Region, with regular travel throughout allocated areas.
