Role Overview
As E-Commerce Head, you will be tasked with designing and delivering the company’s full digital commerce strategy. From idea generation and platform choice to complete launch and beyond, this is a role that demands an intellectually robust and operationally mature strategic thinker, technical literacy, and strong leadership skills. You will collaborate with cross-functional groups, vendors, and executive management to deliver the vision for e-commerce.
This is a hands-on leadership position that demands strategic vision and tactical implementation. You will have the freedom to make key decisions with the comfort of having the support of a team-oriented and development-focused executive group.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Development & Launch
Oversee end-to-end development, design, and launch of the company’s first-ever e-commerce website.
Work with technology vendors, design partners, and internal stakeholders to establish site architecture, UX/UI, feature roadmap, and platform choice (e.g., Shopify, Magento, or bespoke solutions).
Ensure smooth integration of backend systems such as ERP, CRM, inventory management, and logistics providers.
Digital Sales Strategy & Execution
Create and execute a strategic e-commerce plan to fuel revenue expansion, enhance customer experience, and optimize operational effectiveness.
Control the online product portfolio, price, merchandising, content, and promotions to provide a compelling customer experience.
Identify and leverage emerging trends, shifts in consumer behavior, and seasonal selling opportunities to drive maximum online sales.
Marketing & Customer Acquisition
Drive digital marketing campaigns, including SEO, SEM, email marketing, retargeting, influencer partnerships, and social commerce campaigns.
Establish primary customer acquisition metrics and campaign performance KPIs, utilizing analytic tools to monitor, report, and maximize ROI by channel.
Apply customer data and intelligence to develop personalized campaigns and enhance conversion rates.
Operations & Logistics
Collaborate with logistics partners to provide secure, cost-effective, and customer-centric order fulfillment.
Manage integration of secure, user-friendly payment gateways, fraud prevention solutions, and customer support modules.
Drive operational excellence through process improvement identification, shipping option optimization, and return rate reduction.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Develop and direct a high-performing e-commerce team (marketing, operations, content, customer service).
Work in close collaboration with retail, IT, finance, and supply chain units to reconcile online and offline strategies.
Regular performance reports and strategic updates to senior leadership.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Keep current with global e-commerce trends, technology developments, and competitor innovations.
Implement new digital solutions like subscription strategies, reward schemes, virtual try-on technology, and omni-channel capabilities (click & collect, in-store returns).
Assess and look to expand on third-party marketplaces (e.g., Amazon, Noon) and consider B2B digital selling prospects.
Qualifications & Experience
Must-Have Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, E-Commerce, or equivalent field.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in e-commerce, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership position.
Proven experience of developing or scaling e-commerce sites, preferably in the retail, beauty, or personal care space.
Demonstrated experience in website development project management, digital marketing initiatives, and customer experience enhancement.
Technical & Functional Skills:
Solid grasp of e-commerce sites, content management systems, UX/UI design principles, and mobile-first principles.
In-depth expertise with digital marketing applications and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, Klaviyo, HubSpot, etc.).
Experience with CRM systems, ERP integrations, and e-commerce logistics workflows.
Leadership & Business Acumen:
Entrepreneurial attitude with the capability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Data-driven decision-maker who thrives on delivering measurable results and outstanding customer experiences.
