Overview The Manager of Programs and Services develops, implements, and ensures the delivery of effective, high-quality programs and services to members.
The Chartering Executive will be responsible for developing and maintaining the relationship with ship owners, charterers, and brokers to ensure profitable and efficient chartering operations. The role requires a proactive individual who understands the nuances of the global shipping market, especially in the field of chemicals and oil, and who can negotiate effectively to achieve the best possible outcomes for the company and its clients.
You will be responsible for cargoes and vessel sourcing, freight rate negotiations, preparation and finalization of charter parties, voyage performance monitoring, and full compliance with all maritime regulations and contractual obligations. The role requires very strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, and the ability to work independently on several projects at the same time.
Key Responsibilities
- Chartering & Brokerage Operations
Manage and execute all vessel chartering activities, including but not limited to spot, time, and voyage charters.
Identify, evaluate, and secure suitable vessels or cargo opportunities that will optimize fleet utilization and profitability.
Negotiate freight rates, terms, and charter party agreements with ship owners, charterers, and brokers.
Monitor market movements, freight indices, and regional supply-demand trends to identify profitable opportunities.
Keep abreast of market developments, competitor activities, and freight rate benchmarks.
- Customer Relationship Management
Develop and foster long-term relations with clients, ship owners, brokers, and operators.
Establish and maintain an active client portfolio; regularly interface with existing and prospective clients in the pursuit of new business.
Provide professional advice and timely updates to clients regarding market trends, vessel positions, and cargo availability.
Fully understand the needs of the customers and ensure that service delivery meets or exceeds their expectations consistently.
- Documentation & Compliance
Prepare, review, and finalize charter party documentation, contracts, and related shipping papers.
Ensure all chartering activities are undertaken in accordance with international maritime law, company policies, and safety regulations.
Liaise with legal, insurance, and operations teams to ensure smooth, compliant execution of chartering agreements.
Keep proper records of fixtures, contracts, negotiations, and communications for auditing and reporting purposes.
- Market Intelligence & Analysis
Perform periodic analysis of freight market trends, vessel supply, bunker prices, and trade routes.
Provide management with detailed reports and forecasts that help with decision-making and business planning.
Identify potential risks and opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Contribute to the development of commercial strategies and pricing models.
- Collaboration & Coordination
Work closely with Operations, Technical, and Finance departments for seamless execution of voyages.
Coordinate with marine agents, port authorities, and logistics providers to ensure seamless port calls and cargo handling.
Support the business development efforts of the company by contributing to tenders, proposals, and strategic partnerships.
Qualifications and Experience-Latest Chartering Jobs Dubai 2025
- Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- 2 to 8 years of relevant experience in vessel chartering, brokerage, or commercial shipping operations.
- Proven experience in fixture negotiation and charter party documentation.
- Familiarity with chartering software, market platforms, and voyage estimation tools.
- Demonstrated understanding of international shipping practices, maritime law, and safety regulations.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to think analytically and interpret data and market information.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in English is required, but knowledge of other languages will be an added advantage: Greek, Hindi, Tagalog, or Arabic.
- A well-established network within the chemical or oil shipping sectors is highly desirable.
