This position involves working with Fishing Jars and Drilling Jars, equipment essential to our drilling and fishing operations. About the Role
As a Repair & Maintenance Technician III, you will be responsible for ensuring that our Fishing Jar tools are scrupulously serviced and available for use in the field. You will be instrumental in the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and refurbishment of downhole mechanical equipment, assuring our field teams work safely and with efficiency.
Your actions have a direct bearing on field success, as properly repaired equipment is vital to avoid downtime and optimize performance in the field.
Major Responsibilities-Latest Kuwait Repairing Jobs 2025
Tool Disassembly and Inspection: Disassemble Fishing Jars and other downhole tools according to industry standard procedures. Inspect each part thoroughly to determine wear, corrosion, and functionality.
Cleaning and Surface Prep: Employ correct cleaning agents, solvents, and tools to clean debris, oil, and contamination from mechanical components.
Fault Repair and Diagnosis: Locate faulty or worn-out parts and replace them with accurate repairs or part replacement based on OEM guidelines or Weatherford specifications.
Reassembly and Testing: Reassemble tools with stringent assembly procedures, torque specifications, and calibration specifications. Perform functional testing to ensure performance.
Record Keeping: Record the entire repair and maintenance activity such as inspection results, replaced parts, and test results in the asset management system.
Inventory Control: Facilitate the control and tracing of spare parts, repair kits, and consumables. Properly log and track tools in/out of the facility.
Safety Compliance: Obey HSE policy and procedures strictly. Wear PPE properly and assist safety culture by reporting hazards and near misses.
Tool Movement and Handling: Safely operate forklifts, hoists, cranes, and other material-handling equipment, adhering to your training and lifting plans.
LEAN and Process Improvement: Look for inefficiencies and contribute to process optimization and LEAN efforts to enhance workshop productivity and tool turnaround time.
Required Qualifications & Experience
To be successful in this position, you’ll have a solid background in mechanical repair, tool handling, and shop practices — as well as the skill to work independently and in a team environment.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Technical or Vocational Certification in Mechanical, Petroleum, or Industrial Maintenance is preferred
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in tool repair, mechanical maintenance, or oilfield equipment servicing
Specific skills in Fishing Jars, Hydraulic Jars, or Drilling Jars would be a strong asset
Past experience of working in a workshop or maintenance and repair shop within the oil & gas sector is desirable

Good mechanical know-how and tool handling skills
Knowledge of mechanical tolerances, torque specifications, and assembly protocols
Ability to read technical diagrams, blueprints, and repair manuals
Understanding of basic computer systems (Excel, Word, or ERP tools like SAP)
Ability to operate precision measurement tools, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
Physical & Environmental:
Should be able to lift heavy loads and work in physically stressful environments
Should be comfortable working near oilfield chemicals, lubricants, and high-pressure systems
Will work long hours, weekends, or on-call shifts when necessary
Soft Skills:
Effective critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
High attention to detail and quality commitment
Ability to prioritize and effectively manage time in a high-paced environment
Effective communication and teamwork competencies
