Working as a Housekeeping Supervisor for InterContinental Hotels in Qatar, you will be one of the most important leaders in the day-to-day running of the housekeeping team. You will not only uphold the highest standards of cleanliness in our rooms and facilities but also drive, train, and manage your team to deliver their best.
Role Overview: Housekeeping Supervisor
The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees the cleaning and maintenance of guestrooms and public areas. Their duties include assigning tasks to housekeeping, inspecting rooms, controlling resources in an effective manner, and maintaining all areas of the hotel in perfect condition according to IHG’s brand standards.
Your efforts will have a direct impact on guest satisfaction, operational effectiveness, and the hotel’s reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Task Assignment
Assign housekeeping attendants daily cleaning responsibilities based on room status and operational requirements.
Ensure individual performance and productivity, making sure all team members meet or surpass expectations.
Direct room attendants, public area cleaners, and linen porters during each shift.
- Room & Public Area Inspection
Make regular and random checks of guestrooms, public spaces, corridors, back-of-house zones, staircases, stores, pantries, car park, and trash areas to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
Inspect and release empty clean rooms for sale in coordination with the front desk.
Release rooms according to brand standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and appearance prior to releasing them to guests.
- Maintenance & Safety
Report maintenance problems, inoperative items, or out-of-order rooms and follow up with the engineering department until rectified.
Maintain all housekeeping equipment in good working condition and arrange for preventive maintenance or repair as required.
Enhance health and safety awareness among housekeepers and comply with occupational health and safety (OHS) procedures.
- Inventory & Resource Management
Keep par stocks of linen and guest supplies in pantry spaces to avoid shortages or excess stock.
Monitor usage of cleaning chemicals and materials, handling, and storage safely.
Regularly partake in stock audits and inventory checks.
- Team Management & Training
Promote a respectful, disciplined, and courteous work environment among the housekeeping department.
On-the-job training of new and current employees in safety, guest interaction, and cleaning procedures.
Brief staff at the start of every shift to give updates, room status, or special directions.
- Communication & Coordination
Coordinate strictly with the front office, engineering, and laundry staff to provide smooth service delivery.
Effectively communicate with all departments to coordinate guest requests, room status, or emergency situations.
- Reporting & Documentation
Inspect and endorse daily reports from housekeeping attendants for checking accuracy and completion.
Keep the department’s logbook with activity records, guest complaints, follow-ups, and maintenance-related problems.
Maintain and record lost-and-found items in accordance with IHG’s policy and guest privacy guidelines.
General Duties
Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the hotel.
Maintain proper grooming, uniform adherence, and punctuality by all team members.
Be available at the emergency cleaning or the guest’s request when necessary.
Attend department meetings, training sessions, and cross-functional activities as instructed.
Cooperate with the Executive Housekeeper and Assistant Manager to roll out innovation and continuous improvement concepts.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Secondary school education or equivalent.
Additional housekeeping or hospitality training is an asset.
Experience:
2–3 years of prior experience in housekeeping with 1 year as supervisor in a 4-star or 5-star hotel.
Effective ability to manage a team within a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Technical Knowledge:
Through understanding of hotel cleaning practices and cleanliness standards.
Knowledge of proper handling and use of cleaning chemicals.
Knowledge of hotel management systems and housekeeping software is a plus.

English (spoken and written) fluent. Arabic or other languages known is a bonus.

Work Schedule
Should be adaptable and willing to work morning, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts based on operational demands.
May be expected to perform split shifts and overtime during high occupancy periods.
